The following is a quote from Obama as he complained about the lack of Republican support for his health care plan. He used an analogy to attempt to express the idea that he was doing hard work, and that Republicans simply didn’t want to help. This is false. I have gone through his false analogy and shown why it is terrible.

“What I reject is when some folks say we should go back to the past policies when it was those very same policies that got us into this mess in the first place. Another way of putting it is when, you know, I’m busy and Nancy busy with our mop cleaning up somebody else’s mess — we don’t want somebody sitting back saying, you’re not holding the mop the right way. Why don’t you grab a mop, why don’t you help clean up. You’re not mopping fast enough. That’s a socialist mop. Grab a mop — let’s get to work.” -Barack Hussein Obama

“What I reject is when some folks say we should go back to the past policies when it was those very same policies that got us into this mess in the first place.”
He first said that he rejects going back to past, failed policies. Great, because high taxes and government-run healthcare works so great in other areas, right? No.
“Another way of putting it is when, you know, I’m busy and Nancy busy with our mop cleaning up somebody else’s mess — we don’t want somebody sitting back saying, you’re not holding the mop the right way.”
Right, so they’re busy “mopping.” Well, I guess you could call it that if you would call dipping a mop into a bucket of mud and then slathering that onto a floor with a layer of dust “mopping.” Which I don’t think many people do, but that might be just me. And we aren’t just sitting back criticizing the way he holds the mop; we’re criticizing the entire concept of adding mud to the floor. Who’s brilliant idea was that? Oh, right. The Democrats.
“Why don’t you grab a mop, why don’t you help clean up?”
Many reasons. For one thing, the government took all of our mops and locked them up, regulating them other people. We don’t have the “authority” or the “power” to wield the mighty mop of justice. And also, even if we had mops, we wouldn’t be able to mop it up faster than they put the mud on it. All that would do is create a bigger mess. No, if we wielded mops, the most productive thing we could probably do is use them as weapons, and knock them unconscious so that they can’t create a bigger mess than they already have.
“You’re not mopping fast enough.”
I’d rather you stop, come to think of it. Mud just doesn’t add to the décor, you know?
“That’s a socialist mop.”
Of course it is, dripping mud all over the place. I couldn’t have put it better myself.
“Grab a mop — let’s get to work.”
Yay, let’s add more mud!
